Target Audience This activity is designed to meet the educational needs of impairment evaluators to assist in understanding how to calculate impairment based on the content presented in the AMA Guides to the Evaluation of Permanent Impairment, Sixth Edition. The activity must be used in conjunction with the AMA Guides, Sixth Edition, and therefore does not stand alone.
Statement of Need The purpose of this activity is to provide a sampling of the appropriate use of the AMA Guides to the Evaluation of Permanent Impairment, Sixth Edition. It is intended that participants have read the AMA Guides, Sixth Edition, Chapters 1, 2, and chapters 4 through 12 to completely and effectively utilize this activity.
Statement of Competency This activity is designed to address the following ABMS/ACGME competencies: medical knowledge and patient care. On completion of this workbook, some of the new methodology and principles in the internal medicine chapters of the AMA Guides, Sixth Edition, will be understood and the user will be able to assess body system organs impairment evluation cases according to the AMA Guides principles.
