Live Physicians Leading Change for Better Outcomes
Healthcare organizations need physician engagement more today than ever before. Performance improvement initiatives are not sustainable without leadership and involvement by the physician community. This program will offer transformative strategies resulting in learning organizations achieving greater gains from their improvement activities. Objectives
At the end of this activity, physicians should be able to:

  1. Describe the principles of high reliability as applies to healthcare organizations and physicians.
  2. Describe the advantage of using evidence based performance improvement methodology, specifically Robust Process Improvement, over conventional methods. 
  3. Describe organizational strategies in which physicians can participate in performance improvement and risk reduction activities.   

Target Audience
This activity is designed for medical staff leaders.   


Statement of Need
This program was designed to meet the educational needs of physicians seeking strategies to increase physician engagement. Specifically, physicians need to be able to apply the principles of high reliability to their healthcare organizations and use evidence based performance improvement methodologies to advance changes to achieve desired outcomes.

This activity is designed to address the following ABMS/ACGME competencies: practice-based learning and improvement; interpersonal and communication skills; and professionalism.

The American Medical Association is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
