Target Audience This activity is designed to meet the educational needs of impairment evaluators to assist in understanding how to calculate impairment based on the AMA Guides to the Evaluation of Permanent Impairment, Sixth Edition. The activity must be used in conjunction with the AMA Guides, Sixth Edition and therefore does not stand alone.
Statement of Need The purpose of this activity is to provide users with a sampling of the appropriate use of the AMA Guides to the Evaluation of Permanent Impairment, Sixth Edition. It is intended that participants have read the AMA Guides, Sixth Edition, Chapters One, Two, and Seventeen (Lower Extremities) to complete and effectively utilize this activity.
Statement of Competency This activity is designed to address the following ABMS/ACGME competencies: medical knowledge and patient care. Upon completion of this activity, participants will understand how to calculate impairments for the spine based on diagnosis, functional history, clinical studies, physical examination, and history of clinical presentation based on the principles presented in the AMA Guides to the Evaluation of Permanent Impairment, Sixth Edition.
