Physician Quality Scoring Metrics, Interpretation and Implications
The Physician Compare Website was launched on December 30, 2010, to meet requirements set forth by Section 10331 of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010. The Physician Compare Web site serves as a healthcare professional directory on Medicare.gov. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is required to expand the Physician Compare Website to include quality data by January 2013. Given the complexity of the information and the fact that many organizations are choosing to produce and disseminate reports on the quality of care provided, it is important to understand the challenges this presents. This program will provide insight on interpretation of physician quality scoring metrics and the implications they may have on physicians and their practices. Should you have technical questions, please contact the AMA Unified Service Center at 800-621-8335. Should you have any questions regarding the content, please contact Katie Pajak at kathryn.pajak@ama-assn.org or 1-312-464-5450.
