Leadership and the AMA Code of Medical Ethics
The Preamble to the Principles of Medical Ethics states that, as a member of the profession, a physician must recognize responsibility to patients first and foremost, as we as to society, to other health professionals, and to self. The Code of Medical Ethics contains many provisions that provide opinions on matters of physician leadership. Physician leaders must deal with today’s complex and perplexing issues within the ethical framework of the profession. As a physician leader, are you prepared to deal with today’s complex and perplexing ethical issues? This program will explore the relationship and relevance of the Code of Medical Ethics to the responsibilities of physician leaders. The program will conclude with a discussion of case scenarios that will focus on key ethical tensions in health care.
